Indore: A city to emulate
Indore holds a special place in my heart. The warmth and hospitality of its
people are unmatched, and when I received an invitation to attend my friend’s
daughter’s wedding, I needed no second thoughts to book my tickets to this
vibrant city.
My memories of Indore date back to 1996 when I last visited for a business
trip to Dewas for industrial chemicals. Back then, the city struggled with
pollution and lacked an orderly lifestyle.
But today, Indore tells a story of remarkable transformation. It has emerged
as a manufacturing hub, particularly for the automobile industry, with its
meticulously planned industrial area of Pithampur leading the charge.
What truly amazed me, however, was Indore’s dedication to cleanliness and
hygiene. Under the visionary leadership of PM Shri Narendra Modi and his
flagship Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the city has become an
inspiring example for the entire nation. Winning the title of “Cleanest City of
India” for consecutive years isn’t just an achievement—it’s a testament to the
collective efforts of its citizens and the government.
The people of Indore are very fond of different delicacies of food and
obviously therefore, the food market is thriving like 56 Dukan areas (24
hours), Sarafa Bazar with no place to even stand (post 9 pm). Many celebrities visits this city only for
food so you can see the pictures of many leaders and Bollywood stores
displaying very proudly by the shopkeepers.
Yes, this could be possible because people keep the city clean.
The Indore Model reminds us that real change happens when
citizens and the government work hand-in-hand. If people are disciplined in
their habits, segregate waste, avoid littering, and respect public spaces, the
government’s policies can yield incredible results.
It is my firm conviction that if every Indian city emulates Indore’s
example, the dream of a Clean India will not just remain a
vision—it will become a proud reality. Let’s pledge to take one small step
every day, for a cleaner, healthier, and more beautiful India!
Together, we can make this happen!
